Layering a Shirt Dress for Cooler Weather
Happy Monday friends! This outfit was actually shot in April but by the time I was ready to post the temperatures started to change and suddenly we had spring and warmer weather looks on our minds. No longer were OTK boots a desired accessory. So I kept this one filed for fall because I think its a great styling idea for taking your spring and summer shirt dresses into the cooler months.
OTK Boots Balance a Shorter Hemline
Additionally, boot season is upon us and I couldn’t be more excited to bring back out my favorite pair from last year. My exact boots have been restocked with an even more refined silhouette. Time for an update, perhaps? OTK boots are the perfect way to keep not only shirt dresses, but any of your shorter dresses on rotation in the fall. And for winter? Just add tights.
Another easy trick to transition dresses for fall is adding a layering piece on top. I added a long vest to this look but a sweater or blazer would totally work as well! And a sleeveless sweater or short sleeveless sweater dress is another option. This is such a perfect office to cocktails look but for something more casual, try layering your shorter dresses over skinny jeans or leather leggings with a heel or bootie.
Monday, Monday, Monday
Shifting gears, how was your weekend? We got a blast of warm weather that took Chicago to near 80 degrees! It felt great to get outside after being sick all of last week. I finished decorating for Halloween and spent a lot of time just relaxing at home and editing photos. It felt good to be productive.
