You would be hard pressed to find a person who hasn’t been affected by breast cancer. About 1 in 8 U.S. women (or 12.4%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. This means all of us will most likely be affected by the disease, either personally or because a loved one is diagnosed. I personally lost a grandmother to breast cancer. I’ve also watched 2 friends fight valiantly against invasive forms of breast cancer.
For me, the fight is personal.
Which is why I’m excited to be supporting JCPenney’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives. This month, customers and associates can join JCPenney in the fight to save lives from breast cancer. JCPenney is teaming up with the American Cancer Society, the nation’s largest nonprofit investor in cancer research. The organization currently invests $60.2 million in breast cancer research, funding 155 multiyear grants focused on breast cancer prevention, screening and treatment.
From now through Oct. 31, $2 from every sale of JCP’s City Streets® breast cancer awareness tees will be contributed to the American Cancer Society in support of the organization’s breast cancer research and programs. JCPenney also carries a variety of breast cancer awareness merchandise. You can find anything from fashion jewelry to athletic footwear that enables customers to show their support for the cause. #AllAtJCP

Beauty in Courage, Power in Strength
When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, her whole life changes. Breast cancer impacts so much more than just the physical body. It also takes a huge emotional toll on family and friends. I’ve also learned from my friends who are in remission from the disease, that even as their physical appearance returned to normal, the fight was far from over. It’s so important to support these women in any way we can. There is such beauty in their courage.
Because there is beauty in courage and power in strength.
