And just like that, it’s over…
Ok, asking for a friend here…where the heck did summer go? Dang guys, this has to be the fastest summer on record over here and something tells me I’m not the only one feeling this way. The school supplies have been purchased, the summer reading program is (almost) complete, meet the teacher is tomorrow and then back we go.
Part of me is looking forward to returning to a routine, along with cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice. But the other part of me is clinging with sad desperation to these waning days of summer. And I couldn’t let the season past without sharing one (or maybe 2) more summer looks. This one got lost in the shuffle and I’m so happy I discovered it when I did!
Ruffled Gingham + Denim
This ruffled gingham skirt and denim jacket combo has to be one of my favorites this summer! I styled this exact skirt last year here. It’s such a fun and wearable piece and looks just as cute with sneakers as it does with wedges or heels. Wear it for a late picnic date or apple picking in the fall. It would even be super cute for family photos with a simple tee in a red or mustard shade.
And speaking of summer picnics and apple picking…as we soak up these last days of summer break, I’m squeezing in as much family fun as possible and have put together a little end of summer bucket list of all the things I hope checking off over the next week!
End of Summer Bucket List
These are all of the activities we have planned for the next week, wish us luck!!!
- Make one last trip to Western Michigan for peach picking, a stop at the beach and dinner at Journeyman Distillery. All in my ruffled gingham skirt, of course:)
- Have an outdoor movie night. My hubby just ordered a 150 inch outdoor screen for our projector and we’re planning a movie night with the neighborhood kiddos complete with a bonfire and s’mores.
- One last pool party. We’ve spent our fair share of days in the pool, but I’m hoping to squeeze at least one more in before it’s too late. (On the first day of school, the pool will be reserved for adult swim only, sorry kids!)
- Drive downstate to visit family. We plan to take a short one night getaway this weekend to visit some family in downstate Illinois as a quick little getaway.
