“Real Girl” Style
Happy Thursday friends! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed over the past few weeks and months, my feed shifting away from heavily styled images, to one with more casual, every-day outtakes. I started to notice that I was less drawn to the heavily-edited aspirational bloggers and Instagrammers that I’ve long followed. In their place I’ve become much more inspired by the “real girls” of Instagram. Those with attainable, versatile, every day outfits that as a busy working mom, are much more relatable to me. This blog very much started as a creative outlet that was very aspirational and didn’t always feature outfits that were viable options for my real life. If you look at some of my early posts 🙈there was also clearly a lot of “self-discovery” as I honed in on my personal style. One that I’d somewhat lost since becoming a mom.
Since those days, W&R has come a long way and what I’ve realized is that I need to do a better job of keeping it real and sharing the every day essentials that I reach for in my “real life”. Does that mean I’m going to go cold-turkey and stop featuring heals and dresses just because you’re more likely to find me in jeans and sneakers? Absolutely not! We all need that girly-girl, feminine inspiration for the occasions in our life when we’ll be dressing up so you’ll still find plenty of that content here.
Shopping for Spring, What I’m Buying!
Whew! If you’re still with me then 🙏🏻My point is really just that I plan to incorporate more versatile, everyday pieces that can be worn over and over in different ways, and I’m starting with today’s post! Casual and versatile spring wardrobe essentials, many of which I’ve already purchased! For me, a versatile spring wardrobe includes plenty of basics that can be worn now while its still chilly, and later when it finally stops snowing and warms up. A versatile spring wardrobe consists of basics like updated denim, lighter weight tops, cute dresses and field jackets. It’s also a great time to scoop up a new pair of sandals, wedges or sneakers. And of course new sunglasses and a new bag!
