The Dog Days of Summer
With August comes the heat. And the humidity. One minute you’re sitting in your freezing cold office, and the next your sweating your face off outside. Its a never ending battle between being way too hot and absolutely freezing. Its a back and forth that’s hard on our bodies and on our skin.
Summertime is also a time when streamlining your beauty routine is a must. No one wants layers of makeup on their face, greasy moisturizer on their legs or a deodorant that marks up their clothes and doesn’t pull its weight.
We want easy, reliable products to take us through the day and into the evening. Simple and dependable. So today I’m sharing 8 tried and true summer beauty hacks to get you through the sweltering days of summer!
8 Summer Beauty Hacks
1. Drink Enough Water.
I know, I know, you’ve heard this time and again, but no time is it more critical than in the summer. Drinking water hydrates your body and your skin, fights bloat, flushes out toxins and prevents cramps and sprains.
2. Use a Reliable Deodorant.
Nothing is worse than a deodorant that doesn’t last through the day or one that ruins your outfit with unsightly white marks. I rely on Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant all year round. Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant goes on invisible, leaving no white marks on 100 colors and keeping you fresh all day.
Picking out an outfit is the most time-consuming part of getting ready for many women. And according to Dove’s survey, 65 percent of women wish they had more time in the morning and most say their routine can be a race to get out the door. So its no surprise that having a deodorant that not only does it’s job, but doesn’t ruin your outfit is a major bonus.
Additionally, Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection and offers Dove’s signature 1⁄4 moisturizing technology to care for skin.
3. Apply Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant to the back of your neck about 10 minutes before blow drying your hair.
Besides frizz, the worst part of styling your hair during the summer is sweating while you’re styling. We all know the struggle of blow drying our hair, and essentially needing another shower once you’re done. Avoid all of this with by applying Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant at the neckline. Of all of these summer beauty hacks, this might be the one I use most frequently!
4. Sprinkle baby powder on your skin after the beach and the sand will wipe right off!
The same way that baby powder can act as a dry shampoo to absorb excess oil, it works wonders at the beach. Once you’ve got your fill of sun and sand for the day, sprinkle baby powder anywhere that you’ve got sand stuck to you. The powder will absorb the moisture on your skin from sweat and salt water and you’ll be able to wipe all of the sand off immediately.
5. Mix a paste of lemon juice and baking soda to remove self-tanning mistakes.
This is one of my all time favorite summer beauty hacks. The safest way to tan is to avoid the sun altogether, but using self-tanner means that sometimes there will be mistakes. To remove any streaky or overly orange patches on your skin, mix together baking soda and lemon juice to create a paste. Use the mixture to gently exfoliate your skin where you need to even out the tanner and you’ll be set!
6. Don’t forget to get up and move.
Winter, spring, summer or fall, its important to get up during the day and get some exercise. Go for a walk. Do jumping jacks at your desk. Hit the gym before or after work. Go for an evening swim. A little exercise will give you that lit from within glow that we all are trying to fake with highlighter. And count on Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant to provide 48-hour odor and wetness protection during and after your workouts.
7. Store your nail polish in the fridge.
I personally love a good DIY manicure. However, nothing ruins all your hard work like bubbles in your polish. During the summer, the heat can react with the ingredients in nail polish and make it thicker. Storing your nail polish in the fridge keeps it cool allowing for a much smoother paint job. If you can’t fit your entire collection in the fridge just put in the color you’ll be using, along with your base and top coat, for about an hour before your mani.
8. Use chilled chamomile tea bags to soothe a heat rash.
As much as we try to be careful, heat rash can happen to anyone. Steep a few bags of chamomile tea in hot water, then let them cool for about 15-20 minutes in the freezer. Lay the tea bags along the area of the rash and let the calming effects of the herbs go to work.
I hope these summer beauty hacks come in handy and save you some time! Be sure to let me know if you try any of these and if you love Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant as much as I do!
