If you stopped by the blog last week you may have read about my love of the bell sleeve trend. Well, as I edited the photos for today’s post, I realized that the bell sleeve is really just a part of a larger trend involving ruffles. Ruffles are certainly having a strong moment right now. In fact, when I put together this particular outfit, I realized that ruffles are truly everywhere: from hemlines to sleeves to cuffs. And its almost as if the more pronounced the ruffle, the larger the number of frills, the better. I for one, am loving it.
Ruffles Reign
I say with some degree of confidence that ruffles seem to be an evolution of the fringe trend which seemed to be everywhere up until this past spring. Thankfully fringe has given way to feminine and textured pleats, frills and ruffles that run the range from structured to soft and flowing. I love the textural interest and dimension they add to this fairly minimalist ensemble.
The layered slip dress is another look I’ve been experimenting with. Previously I’ve styled the slip dress more casually but dressed it up a bit today for a look that can take you from the office to cocktails. And this structured little black bag looks super designer, but is only $28 {also available in a chestnut hue and comes with a cross-body strap}!
So there you have it: 2 of my favorite fall trends, that prove you can experiment with fashion and still stay true to your own personal style. What trends are you loving?
