The Blazer: A Wardrobe Workhorse:
A navy blazer is perhaps one of my most turned to closet staples. While still polished and professional, it is much easier to dress down than a stark black jacket. Today, I paired my favorite blazer with distressed skinny boyfriend jeans, which is one of fall’s top trending styles.
When shopping for blazers, I pay close attention to both fit and details. A perfect blazer can be as elusive as the perfect pair of jeans, but doesn’t have to come at a hefty price point. Although, I would never deter you from investing in a higher-end tailored jacket. It’s a classic that you will wear for years and will never go out of style.
How to shop on a budget:
However, if you are looking for something more affordable H&M, J. Crew Factory and Banana Republic are all great options. I also like to look for interesting details, like the gold buttons on my jacket. Its details like this that add interest without being distracting. They can also make a piece look more expensive than it actually is. Also, when shopping for tailored pieces like a blazer, a tailor can be your best friend. For about $20-$25, the jacket can be altered to fit as though it was custom made.
Additionally, blazers can be incredibly versatile. A quick scroll on Pinterest will show blazers paired with everything from wide-leg pants to distressed cut-offs and everything in between. I love the pairing of relaxed and casual with polished and dressy, making this one of my favorite styling tricks. I also love adding a gorgeous statement making accessory like this Christian Paul watch.
