Happy Friday! We’ve been in serious vacation mode over here and it’s been over a week since my last post. #sorrynotsorry I have to say its been a much needed break. I grew up in the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota and spent every moment of my youth itching to get out and get to a city, any city. And I did. I made it first to New York and then to Chicago almost 13 years ago and I never looked back.
But something was different this time. This time I wasn’t quite in such a rush to get back home. This time I was able to truly enjoy and soak up the beauty of where I come from. We boated, we hiked, we fossil hunted, wine tasted and just rested. I didn’t blog, or even Instagram much. And I was super shitty about taking pictures. I did not take out the camera even once. But I did finally come around to Snapchat {early-adapter, I am not}! Be sure to follow along {wishes_reality}.

Like I’m on vacation…fried chicken, fish sandwiches with pickles, potato chips, watermelon, homemade waffles, homemade rice and beans…so good. So gonna need to get back to the gym.

Normally I do tons of vacation reading but this trip I have done none. Its my one and only vacation regret. The car ride in I was fighting a cold and when I wasn’t behind the wheel I was sleeping and when I was, I was sipping a 5 hour energy. I did however stumble across some interesting reads in my online wandering…

To say this past couple of weeks (month? year?) has been a terrible one would be an enormous understatement, but if you need a reminder that the world is still full of people who care, please read this account of what happened when passengers aboard a flight discovered that the grandmother of one of the Orlando victims was on board (via WSOCTV). I have made a few online purchases while on the road. When I spotted this top on Pinterest, I had to track it down. I was able to score the last one on Shopbop, but found a nearly identical version for under $30! I also ordered this striped shirtdress in hopes of recreating this chic Olivia Palermo look. And I ordered this bomber {trying to be forward thinking for fall}, after seeing the it styled here and here.
