If you’re a regular reader of W&R, or have even stopped by a handful of times, you might note that today’s post is a bit different from what you’re used to seeing here. Namely, it involves color! It’s pretty well established that I’m a neutrals girl, who mainly sticks to the classics. I learned pretty early in my blogging career, that the trends that other bloggers so successfully showcased didn’t often work for me. Yet the overalls trend is one that I’ve been dying to try. I was all set to style this pair with a black and white striped long sleeve tee, some cute black pumps and maybe a fun red bag, until I saw this top.
I saw it from across the store and even thought its pretty bold for me, I had to try it on. Normally rib knit tops are a little tough to wear, as they showcase every curve and bulge, but the longer line of this top, combined with the bold colors made it really flattering. Before I knew it, I was walking out of the store with it in my bag! Sadly, it seems that many of H&M’s spring and summer pieces are only available in store, or at least not online as of today, but I have linked 3 other super similar pieces.
As far as the overalls, this pair, from Blank Denim, was the 5th pair that I ordered. The fifth. Every other pair went back. I thought I really wanted an over-sized fit and was hesitant to try a skinny style, but how wrong I was. Every other pair I tried was too frumpy, or made me feel twice my normal size. This pair is so soft and has the perfect amount of stretch and are actually flattering. I’m pretty sure I could have even sized down. The best part, I really feel like this style would work for all ages!
So even though, you probably won’t be seeing me try many of the current trends that are so popular right now (boho doesn’t work on me and off the shoulder is not my jam), I really had fun with these overalls and am excited to style them again!
Have you stepped out of your comfort zone recently and tried any new trends?
