Chicago weather isn’t exactly predictable, but this spring has got to take the cake. I hate to sound like a 90 year-old lamenting about the weather, but shit is crazy! Saturday varied between clouds, wind, snow, sun, hail and rain. Things were changing on a dime and with a baby shower to get ready for I had no clue what season to dress for or where to even begin! And in no time flat my closet was emptied out onto my bed!
Luckily I had a basic and trusty striped dress with sleeves that fit the bill nicely. I wasn’t sure how dressy the party would be and a simple shift does the trick every time. Adding accessories like pearls, bush heels and a great pink crossbody polished off the look perfectly. But with the weather swinging all over every seasonable extreme possible, I needed to be practical. Thankfully, I always travel with my Hunter boots, so I knew I’d be covered on my drive to the northern burbs.
But what I was most excited to throw on with this outfit, was this beautiful pink skater trench from ASOS. Sadly, mine is almost completely sold out, but I was able to find 2 nearly identical versions, that I’ve linked above and below. I may even like the Laundry by Shelli Segal version more than mine and it also comes in a gorgeous serenity blue shade! It also has the back pleating detail which is such a feminine touch to a fairly utilitarian piece. The perfect spring jacket.
I’ve discussed how a trench is a classic piece that any wardrobe is incomplete without, especially in Chicago, but I’ve never been able to find just the right trench for me! Until I stumbled across this pink skater trench. I love the skirted detail, its such a fun silhouette and keeps me from feeling to frumpy! Heidi 1, spring weather, 0.
I also wanted to thank you all for your kind words on Friday’s post. After a rough few days my daughter is finally on the mend! Its so very hard to see your child in pain and completely vulnerable. She continues to amaze me daily and I continue to learn from her every day.
