The Best Valentine’s Day Surprise

7 years ago today, on Valentine’s Day at 11:59AM, our family was completed with the birth of our daughter. My first child came quickly; we barely made it to the hospital. So naturally when I went into labor this time around we blew every light on Michigan Avenue to get to Northwestern in time. And then, 22 hours later, our girl made her arrival. You see, she was showing us her personality even then. The girl doesn’t do a darn thing until she’s good and ready.  Continue Reading

Making Healthy Changes

Growing up my weight was fortunately not something that I struggled with. Mostly, its genetics that I have to thank for that. Sure, I yo-yo’d a bit in college, but overall I was pretty happy with my body and didn’t suffer with a lot of insecurities. However, I wasn’t always making the smartest choices. I ate too much sugar and didn’t get enough exercise or enough fresh air. Then, after my daughter was born I decided I needed to make some changes. I started going to the gym, making better dietary choices and getting outdoors more often. However, since I’m often on the go, it’s important to find snacks that I can grab as I run out the door to eat on the go.  Continue Reading

I’m certain I’m not the only one who overindulged over the holiday weekend! After too many second (and, who am I kidding, third!) helpings of apple pie and mashed potatoes, I’m feeling like I need to make some healthier food choices in the coming weeks. However, as a busy mom who’s always on the go, making healthier choices isn’t always easy.  Continue Reading

Holiday Traditions

My single favorite tradition of the holiday season is the white elephant gift exchange my family hosts every year. The gifts range from small, yet thoughtful to silly, over-the-top gag gifts. Over the years I’ve walked away from the exchange with a set of coffee mugs, a portable cooler and a silly hat that my kids still love to play with, just to name a few. With the holidays fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to create a post about this lively holiday tradition. Continue Reading

Back to School Art Party

With the school year now in full swing, we recently decided to host an after school art party to reconnect with friends we hadn’t seen over the summer months! I put together some fun crafts and creative and healthy snacks that I knew the kids would love and then… I got sick. Back to school means that the kids are not only exposed to germs at school, but that they also bring them home. Continue Reading

Passing Judgement and the Business of Being Judged

coffee-and-a-cameraWhen I started Wishes & Reality in 2014 it was as a creative outlet where I could express my love of fashion. But as I further defined my goals, what started out as a hobby, quickly became a business. Today, after working my tail off for 2 1/2 years, I have had some successes. You see, the business of blogging really means to be a professional influencer using digital channels to influence purchasing decisions. We are modern-day advertisers. But instead of helping to peddle the latest whachamaloo, I am placing my support behind brands that I truly believe in. Those that align with my own brand AKA Wishes & Reality. Continue Reading
