Guys, I am NOT a morning person. Honestly, there are plenty of mornings where 7:30am still feels like the middle of the night. So lately I have been implementing a few simple steps into my routine to make the morning go more smoothly and get my day started on the right foot.
I try to get to the gym at least 3 days per week, but I make an effort to do some form of exercise every morning, even if its just for 15 minutes. Simply taking a brisk walk after the kids get on the bus can change the way I feel. Anything that gets my heart pumping fills me with the energy I need to tackle the day. And the fresh air doesn’t hurt either!
Make time for breakfast.
I love a refreshing smoothie to start my day. I simply throw frozen fruit, almond milk, a banana and some protein powder in the blender. It doesn’t take much time but makes such a difference in my morning productivity and jump starts my metabolism for the day.
Do a mental check in.
With my husbands crazy work schedule, my increasingly busy work life and two school-aged kids, its tough to keep everything straight. So in addition to checking my email, I always check my planner and online calendar in the morning for the day and the week ahead. Inevitably there are times where I forget an appointment, meeting or event and checking in with myself keeps me on task and able to plan my day and week accordingly.

My days stay pretty full and no day is ever the same. Some days I’m running from the gym to the grocery store to volunteer at my children’s school.
